Samsung Has Some AWESOME Tech In The Pipeline For 2017/18
by Asma - 09 Nov 16 - 15:47
We already know that Samsung is preparing flexible and folding OLED (FFOLED) handsets for 2017 as there have been plenty of leaks on the subject; the main device is thought to be the Samsung Galaxy X, known internally as Project Valley, however, going forward it's possible the firm will set up a new FFOLED brand as the Samsung Galaxy Wing series, if new information is correct.

The Galaxy Note 7 debacle has taken a bit of shine off Samsung’s brand image and there are reports claiming the company will shelve plans for its bendable OLED phone, currently known as the Galaxy X.

Whatever happens, the company already has the technology in the bag and, either next year or 2018, it will see the light of day. Bad things happen all the time in the technology space, but as long as Samsung dusts itself off and continues to innovate as it has the Galaxy Note 7 should not be too much of a set-back.

This means between now and 2018 we can expect to see Samsung really pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with technology. The company has done more for display technology than any other brand and this trend looks set to continue into 2017/18. Couple this with advancements it is developing to the actual form-factors of mobile technology and the future is looking very interesting indeed!

A collection of Samsung patents has appeared which show a variety of bendy and flexible OLED devices all under the umbrella name of Galaxy Wing. So far a roll-up bracelet design has been spotted which appears to be able to stand freely on a surface and may unfold into a smartphone form factor, along with a phone or phablet like device which unfolds two additional side displays for a virtual keyboard.
