FB Heliservices Limited (www.fbheliservices.com), a joint venture between Cobham Aviation Services and Bristow Helicopters, has won a two year contract to provide helicopter flying training services to the Albanian armed forces. The contract marks the first commercial agreement between a British company and the Albanian Ministry of Defence.
Delivered on Agusta A109 and Bell 412 rotorcraft owned by FB
Heliservices, the company will deliver training in multi-engine type
conversion, glass cockpit familiarisation, instrument flying and search and
rescue operations to 12 Air Force pilots, with an additional four aircrew also
receiving search and rescue training. Starting with immediate effect, the
courses will prepare aircrew to operate the nation’s new Cougar helicopters,
the delivery ceremony for the first two of which was cancelled last week
following the crash of one of the aircraft in France.
FB Heliservices Managing Director Peter Richardson said the company "has a very strong track record of delivering helicopter pilot training services to military customers around the world and we look forward to working with the Albanian Ministry of Defence to provide the training to their pilots in order for them to successfully move on to their new Cougar helicopters.”
