At the Farnborough International Airshow in July Défense Conseil International (DCI – www.groupedci.com) and Major Flagship Sdn Bhd signed an agreement to establish a joint venture company, Helang Training. Executive power will be exercised jointly by Jean-Michel Palagos of DCI and Major Flagship’s Datuk Ahmad Zaki Zahid, while the shareholding will be 51/49 in the Malaysian company’s favour.
Helang Training, which will shortly be acquiring single- and twin-engine helicopters, will create a training academy for helicopter aircrew and maintenance personnel to serve local and regional requirements, while DCI will supply the majority of the instructors.
"The creation of this training academy illustrates what DCI stands for: transferring the best know-how of the French armed forces to France’s friendlies countries to enhance their capability. I am delighted by this extremely ambitious project because it stands as testimony of the close relationship between DCI and our Malaysian partner. DCI has a renowned expertise in the helicopter field, be it in pilot training or in maintenance operations, and will now share it with Malaysia in this academy. This is a major step forward for both parties and together we are confident that it will prove a major success,” said Palagos.
